John is the former Chief Political Correspondent for the BBC from 1992 to 2000 and ITN's Political Editor from 2000 until 2002.

Many people will remember John as one of Britain's most popular and respected broadcasters and authors. His award-winning career as a political journalist has been as lengthy as it has been successful and seen him interview big political hitters like Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher, John Major, and Tony Blair.

In recent years though John has returned to his first love of light entertainment and can be seen regularly on programmes like The One Show, Have I Got News For You, QI, Room 101, and the News Quiz, and of course there were those appearances on Strictly.

Presented in association with Clive Conway Productions.

Join Mark as he tries out material for his brand-new show.

Jokes, rants, politics, play and the occasional sing song.

If you don’t know what he does ask your parents.

In his time he has won awards (current total is now officially ‘f**kloads’), forced a politician to resign, changed laws on tax and protest, become Guinness Book of Records world record holder for number of protests in 24 hours, taken the police to court 3 times and won, walked the length of the Israeli Wall in the West Bank and generally mucked about trying to have fun and f**k the right people off.

This show is more of the above.

2024 is the fortieth anniversary of the 1984/85 miners’ strike, a dispute that still resonates today. In this hard-hitting musical comedy we follow the fortunes of three sisters determined to set up a branch of ‘Women Against Pit Closures’. We’re Not Going Back tackles the resilience of working communities, the make-and-mend fabric of family and the power of sticking two fingers up to a government hell-bent on destruction… … and all with humour, song and a six-pack of Babycham.
