Tipping Point features James Mainwaring on saxophone and effects alongside Matthew Bourne on Fender Rhodes; Michael Bardon on double bass and Joost Hendrickx on drums.
Influenced by a vast range of music such as jazz, contemporary classical and north Indian classical, the quartet evokes playfulness, mindfulness, darkness and extremes of emotion, using improvisations, angular melodies and unusual sounds from eerie to comic.
In concert the jazz quartet will be joined by participants from the Sounding Out Selby residency delivered by NYMAZ. Sounding Out Selby is a free, three day music residency during the May half-term where participants will get to explore the expressive styles and vibrancy of jazz alongside the quartet, looking at the exciting and experimental sounds and textures of free jazz and improvisation!
